Overall it's a great photo. There's a stark contrast between the cream color of the column and the dark background. The pose that you chose to employ is different then a standard "smile at the camera" pose and therefore the picture almost tells a story. One thing you could have done differently was to have the subject (yourself) positioned further to the left as opposed to directly in the center.
I love the picture in general and particularly how the background is different in both halves. Perhaps just a little crop in the dark side and a little in the top other than that it's wonderful!
I like the way you are posed in your picture. I do think that if you could have cropped your picture a little more and lightened the highlights in the photo (just a little bit) it would bring the focus to your face and make for a more interesting photo. But overall, great picture!!
